“Super Intelligence” or You Are “The Enemy”: Trump, Musk and Now Microsoft. On My Site, AI Stays AI

Trump wants "Super Intelligence" instead of AI, and Microsoft's Nadella follows while attacking OpenAI and Anthropic. In my opinion, it is absurd. AI stays AI.

Key takeaways

  • Trump ordered federal agencies to say “Super Intelligence” instead of AI, and wrote that anyone who does not use the new term will be considered “THE ENEMY!”
  • Musk and Bezos backed the term, and now Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella uses “Super Intelligence” in a blog post that, according to The Decoder, takes another shot at OpenAI and Anthropic.
  • My view: for my site, AI stays AI. Renaming what scientists built for years because one politician wants it is absurd.

In late September, President Donald Trump signed an executive order telling federal agencies to stop saying “AI” and use “Super Intelligence” instead. On October 8, he wrote on Truth Social that “Super Intelligence” is “more accurate”, and that anyone who does not use it will be considered “THE ENEMY!”

Elon Musk said he would rename SpaceXAI to SpaceXSI. Jeff Bezos said he likes “SI” because “artificial” sounds fake. And now Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella writes “Super Intelligence” in his latest blog post, which The Decoder describes as another attack on OpenAI and Anthropic.

I have to say it straight: I have had enough.

“Super Intelligence” or you are “the enemy”

Enough of Trump pushing himself into things he does not understand at all. Leave it to the people who know how. I am not saying he is completely lost in everything. But I am sure that if you give him more power over AI, he will be lost, the same way it already looks embarrassing under this president. In my opinion, he is changing the rhetoric for the whole world only because of money and business, and he keeps claiming it is for the good of Americans. I do not agree with that at all.

And saying that whoever does not use the new name is an enemy? For God’s sake. That is like if I write “Trump” in my articles, and not “Trumpito”, and I am already the enemy. What kind of absurdity is that? Where is this going next? What else will people be called enemies for? AI has been AI for years, and suddenly he wants to change it. In my opinion, it looks like a clown in a theater who does not know what to do. That is my opinion, and we live in a free country where I can say it. But really, enough of him getting into everything. He should rather look behind himself and at the effects of what he does. The world is really going downhill.

Musk, Bezos and now Nadella: why they follow so fast

What did we expect? Of course the people around him join. Let us not forget, Trump is power, and businessmen go where they can support the old president in his speeches, so they get as much as possible. Look at Musk and the nonsense he has been saying lately, and how he feels like the whole world belongs to him. Do they not see that what they do only pushes hatred into us? That is also my opinion.

And joining in to rename something scientists have used for years is laughable. Go ahead, rename everything everywhere, because you feel you are the best and the smartest. Mr. Trump and Elon, do you not also want to say you can work better than scientists?

Is today’s AI really “Super Intelligence”?

For us, it stays AI, what we have used for years. Scientists use that abbreviation in their fields. Why does somebody come in and decide for them what it should be called? Why?

And there is a real problem with the new name. In science, “superintelligence” has meant for decades an AI that is smarter than humans in everything. Today’s chatbots are not that. Calling them “Super Intelligence” makes them sound bigger than they are.

Nadella says what I say. So why does it feel wrong?

In his blog post, Nadella argues that companies should treat AI models like insider security threats. “Not because they are necessarily malicious, but because any sufficiently capable actor with access to important systems can make mistakes or be compromised,” he writes. His fix: separate intelligence from control, use several models instead of one, log every action, have independent audits, and let humans shut things down at any time. The most trustworthy system, he says, is the one where you have to trust the model the least.

Yes, that is my opinion too. I wrote the same in my articles about AI agents incidents and the day after a catastrophic AI event. But why do they not say what they have themselves? In my opinion, they probably have some junk that cannot do even half of what OpenAI, Anthropic and Google can do. That is why they just want to discredit them and say nonsense to get attention. The big players want all the power for themselves, any way they can. So they join anyone, just to say it is evil.

Yes, maybe it is dangerous. But discrediting professionals in their field who make the best things? I do not like that at all. They think if somebody discredits something really excellent, people will use their stuff instead. No. Thank God people are smart, and today we find out on the internet what is good and what is junk.

Is it just business? I think yes

The Decoder writes that Nadella’s real motive is business. The big AI labs are about to turn their models into the main way we use computers, and Microsoft, which has been that interface for decades with Windows and Office, has no top model of its own.

That is one hundred percent true. And not just that it is behind. When people talk about Microsoft, we only think of one mega-outdated system and Excel spreadsheets. Nothing more comes to mind. In my opinion, what it is losing now is only catching up with it, after selling the same thing for years without innovation. And now it blames everyone around, instead of coming out and saying: we are terribly behind with AI. No, it will not do that. Instead, it joins Trump, where they say AI is the enemy and we must use something else instead of AI. It all sounds absurd.

For the monopolists who have been on the market until now, this is just a sign. They were used to not moving anywhere, just selling the same things and making billions from it, not going forward. And when somebody became better, suddenly that is a threat.

Investing billions, then attacking: hypocrisy

Microsoft has invested billions in OpenAI. Now its CEO keeps taking shots at it. In my opinion, that is the highest level of hypocrisy you can do these days. I invest, and then I criticize? For God’s sake, what is that? OpenAI is one of the most successful companies on the market in the whole world, the same as Anthropic. And now we do not like it and we will badmouth them, because it does not belong to us. That is how I see it.

Cheaper AI in Office without telling you?

According to The Decoder, Microsoft has been quietly replacing more capable OpenAI and Anthropic models in its Office products with cheaper in-house alternatives to protect margins.

If that is true, in my opinion it is disrespect toward its own customers. We replace it with cheaper junk that we have, which is probably a few years behind and has, I would say, 300 percent less intelligence in it. Or maybe they will call it “Super Intelligence”, as Trump ordered. They can do it, sure. But I think Microsoft will go down more and more every year. Nothing will help it. So the only thing left is to take popcorn and watch Microsoft slowly go down like the Titanic. It will be a nice show. Only because young, innovative companies pulling toward the future will destroy the big old giants.

And I am not talking only about old companies, but also about old leadership that does not look in the same direction. That is scary. Please, all over the world, change the leadership in every field to a younger generation. Wherever you look, there is leadership that should already be retired. That is very bad. And when the young get there, let them be replaced by younger ones again. That is the future. Not the way older people look at things. They lived their lives, and they want to force us to live the same.

When power wins, not the best technology

That is exactly what I fear the most. We must not allow it. If the one with the most power wins, then we can say they will soon order us how to speak and what to talk about. That must not happen. But I hope people are better, especially the young generation. And let us not forget, thank God we live where we all have a voice, and we can show that this is wrong.

Everyone can write under Trump’s post that we do not agree with him. He can name things and do what he wants, but people are against it, and we will keep doing our things that we understand, and not because somebody just orders us, because it probably came to him in a dream. And if it comes to that, we can write petitions and support young companies and generations who know how to make things better than Microsoft.

The surge in “.si” domains? That is more just chatter that somebody pulled out of context, and people started to talk about it. I would not put much weight on it.

On my site, AI stays AI

For my site, it will always stay AI. That is what the scientists worked on, and I definitely do not plan to undo the work of scientists just because Trump ordered that we will be enemies. He can keep his new name for himself. Enough. I want to say my thoughts the way I want. We are in a democratic country, even if lately it does not look much like it.

Our Take

Renaming AI because a politician wants it is absurd, and calling people “the enemy” for it is worse.

Nadella may be right about logs, audits and a human off switch. But in my opinion, when Microsoft invests billions and then attacks, it is about business, not safety.
